5-axis milling with robotic numerical control machines
The milling department of Officina Meccanica Valmori has Haas 5-axis machining centers including the UMC-750 SS, the UMC-500 SS with pallet changer and the UMC-750 SS with the Erowa Robot Compact 80 robotic island, in addition to the Haas VF-9/40 for 3-axis machining and the VM-3 centers with automatic pallet loader. Added to these are the Okuma MU-5000V center and the Mazak CV5-500 center equipped with an Orion DY25 robotic island, solutions that allow continuous production cycles with high repeatability. This machine park allows you to cover processes from 3-axis milling to the most complex 5-axis operations without transferring the part between different machines.
5-axis milling is the most efficient answer for parts with elaborate geometries, undercuts or curved surfaces that require continuous processing on several planes in the same cycle. Thanks to CAD CAM programming and dimensional verification with the Mitutoyo Crysta Apex S 122010 three-dimensional meter, every detail is checked before delivery, ensuring that it respects the tolerances indicated in the customer's drawings. The automatic pallet changer integrated on different centers makes it possible to optimize machine times even on small and medium series orders.
The machine park is updated regularly, always keeping the technological level of the department high. Among the advantages of this approach is the possibility of creating, in a single production cycle, combined processes that in the past would have required more steps and more machines: a saving of time that translates into faster deliveries and more competitive costs for the customer.
